Seattle Beats Cleveland, 4-1
|
The Seattle Mariners beat the Cleveland Guardians, 4-1, at Progressive Field. Seattle right fielder Jaime Callahan had an outstanding performance. He was 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Luis Reyes, now 11-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. The Mariners are now 67-37, while the Guardians fall to 57-48.
In the top of the sixth, Callahan put his team in front with his 21st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came against Art Tesar, made it 3-1, Seattle.
"I like what I saw today," said Seattle manager Jamie Clark, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
