Nationals Drop Giants, 9-4
|
The Washington Nationals locked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the San Francisco Giants, 9-4. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Brandon Dobeck. He played a major role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Dobeck, now 6-10. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The last-place Nationals bumped their record to 40-67.
Jose Jaramillo had a big grand slam home run for the Nationals in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Washington leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he sized up a sinker from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Rittenhouse and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Nationals on top, 8-2.
"That was a really good outing by Brandon," said Washington manager Doug Graff.
