Rich, Yankees Wreck Orioles, 11-2
|
The New York Yankees scored a convincing win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, defeating the Baltimore Orioles, 11-2. One of the hitting stars was Nick Rich, the 9th overall pick in the 2104 draft, who went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Bob Lattimer. He's now 4-8. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Yankees. New York is now 44-63, Baltimore 57-52.
New York used the hitting of Jorge Perez to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yankees on top, 7-2. For the game, Perez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Rich told reporters after the game.
