Blue Jays Defeat White Sox, 3-1
|
Greg Whitaker knocked in all 3 runs for the Toronto Blue Jays, helping them beat the Chicago White Sox, 3-1. Toronto reliever Bryan Bassett got the win, raising his record to 9-4. Jonathan Obrochta was tagged with the loss. Victor Urueta was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 10 save opportunities.
Whitaker had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Jonathan Obrochta, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Whitaker.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Whitaker told the Toronto Times. "And padding the Toronto win column."
The win makes Toronto 73-37.
