Mets Drop Cardinals, 3-2
Sean McNees, who led the NL in wins with 20 in 2099, was locked in. The right-hander led the New York Mets to a 3-2 win against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field. John Rood closed out the game, earning his 29th save. The Mets sit in 4th place in the National League East Division with a record of 52-57.

Grant Goff had a big 2-run home run for the Mets in the bottom of the fifth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a fastball from former first overall pick Jason Weisel and punished it. The result was his 25th home run of the season, which put the Mets on top, 3-0.

"Tough loss," said St. Louis manager Leyland Thomas. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
