Reds Keep Clicking, Win, 4-2
|
The Cincinnati Reds took Washington pitcher Billy Lantry's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Nationals Park. The final score had Cincinnati getting past the Nationals, 4-2. Lantry went 5.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 8. Cincinnati reliever Kyle Dellinger picked up the win to move to 5-1. Billy Lantry suffered the loss. Corey Comer notched his 33rd save in 35 chances.
Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Tom Hedges to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Reds ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We're just feeding off each other right now," said Hedges.
Cincinnati goes to 69-40, Washington to 53-59.
