Rangers Suffer 2-1 Setback
|
The Rays faced a stiff challenge from Texas pitcher Andy Nappi, but persevered to claim a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The final score was 2-1. Nappi went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Tampa Bay reliever Reed McMonagle was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Andy Nappi took the loss. Tim Berigan picked up the save, his 23rd.
Tampa Bay used the timely hitting of Dan Wimmer to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rays on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Runs were at a premium," said Tampa Bay manager Kyle Delgado.
The Rays are now 49-60.
