Late Rally by Brewers Secures 2-1 Win
|
The Brewers grabbed a win, 2-1, at Miller Park, overcoming a fine effort from Chicago pitcher Danny Rosa. Rosa went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Reliever Victor Portillo picked up the win. His record improves to 7-5. David Joplin, who is tied for 9th in the NL in holds with 13, took the loss. Milwaukee is now 66-46, Chicago 55-56.
Eric Walsh was 2-3 with 2 singles for Milwaukee. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Walsh had a clutch at-bat. Facing Chicago hurler Andrew Gray, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead.
"Good ballgame," said Chicago manager Vin Calia. "But we came up on the short end."
