Reds Capture Close Win
|
Cincinnati Reds starter Bryan Brown turned in a sterling performance against the Washington Nationals, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. Brown got the win, improving to 6-4. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The save was credited to Josh Pratt, his 1st.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Chad Crane to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This game is about whoever is putting up more runs," said Reds manager BJ Gorman. "Simple as that."
The first-place Reds are now 71-40, the Nationals 53-61.
