The Cleveland Guardians powered past the New York Yankees, 11-5, at Yankee Stadium. J.J. Kirby provided some of the pop. He went 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. David Hanks snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 2-3 on the season. Mike Clark finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

Brian Ellis came through with a big-time hit for Cleveland. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Ellis told the Cleveland Bulletin.

The win makes Cleveland 50-63.
