The Cleveland Guardians beat the New York Yankees, 7-4, at Yankee Stadium. The Guardians got a fine performance from catcher Dallas Ostrove, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Danny Sanchez, the winner, improved to 12-8. He held New York to 4 runs on 4 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. Juan Ramirez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 17 save opportunities.

Ostrove had a timely hit for Cleveland in the top of the sixth. With New York trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-2 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 21st home run of the season, making it 3-1, Cleveland.

"The most important thing is that we won," Ostrove said.
