Blue Jays Score Late, Upend White Sox, 5-4
|
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox by a score of 5-4. Toronto pinch hitter Tom Monroe deserved the lion's share of the credit. Monroe went 1-1 with a home run for the Blue Jays. Jayson Redd, who is tied for 7th in the AL in saves with 17, was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-3. The losing pitcher was Nestor Fuentes. Toronto sits in first place in the American League East Division at 70-41.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Monroe hit a fastball from Nestor Fuentes for a solo home run. The Blue Jays, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Monroe said.
