Detroit and Minnesota scratched and clawed until someone claimed the prize.

The Detroit Tigers overcame a pretty good performance by Minnesota first baseman Edwin Hernandez, beating the Twins, 2-1, in 11 innings. Hernandez was 1-3 with a triple and 2 walks. Reliever Marco Nunez picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Craig Joines took the loss.

Detroit fans at Comerica Park were rewarded for their support of the Tigers with a nice win.

"That was fun, that was just good baseball," said Ward.

The Tigers saw their win-loss record go to 63-49. At the same time, the Twins fell to 54-58.
