Mariners Use Late Rally to Win 4th Straight
The Chicago Cubs got a sterling performance from center fielder Armando Valenzuela, but the Seattle Mariners still prevailed, 6-5. Valenzuela went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. The winner was Seattle reliever Gary Kennedy, now 11-2. The loser was Tim Linden. Seattle is first in the American League West Division with a record of 73-39.

John Brownfield, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2095, came through for Seattle with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. The first baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 RBI.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Brownfield told the Seattle Chronicle.
