Detroit Scrapes Out 3-2 Win
|
The Detroit Tigers earned a close win over the Tampa Bay Rays, thanks in part to Alex Garza. The Detroit right-hander played a key role in the 10-inning, 3-2 victory. Detroit, at 55-58, holds down 4th place in the American League Central Division.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jeff Hennessey in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 34-year old right-handed pitcher Tim Berigan to win the game for Detroit. The home crowd went nuts.
"Alex can pitch. He moves the ball around," said Detroit manager Chris Gasparro.
