Texas Absorbs 6-2 Loss to New York
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the New York Mets and Texas Rangers.

The New York Mets defeated the Texas Rangers, 6-2, at Citi Field. Leading the charge for New York was left fielder David Valera. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Chris Horan picked up the save, his 3rd.

The Rangers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Mets going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old second baseman George Marinaro came to the plate. Marinaro hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch curveball from Texas hurler Brian Gottstein. It was Marinaro's 14th home run of the year.

"We didn't play well enough to win," said Texas skipper Stephen Gesualdi.

With the win, New York goes to 53-58, while the Rangers fall to 59-55.
