Padres Post 4-1 Win
|
The San Diego Padres beat the Atlanta Braves, 4-1, at Coca-Cola Field. Alfredo Sanchez, who is on pace for 83 RBI this season, starred for San Diego. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. San Diego reliever Matt Yarbrough snagged the win, upping his record to 3-3. Juan Gerardino shouldered the loss. Ricky Aguilera earned save number 5 this season.
The Braves had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Padres going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the seven-time All-Star Randy Wilson came to the plate. Wilson hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-1 sinker from Atlanta hurler Juan Gerardino. It was Wilson's 1st triple of the year.
San Diego manager Tim Lentz commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
San Diego is now 67-46.
