Rangers Suffer 5-1 Road Loss
|
Matt Doering brought his A-game to help Minnesota defeat the Texas Rangers, 5-1. Doering, now 8-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Minnesota occupies 4th place in the American League Central Division at 59-58.
Tied up with the Rangers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Twins got a boost from right fielder Carlos Perez. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Perez saw a 0-1 fastball from Nick Jenkins and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Minnesota on top, 3-1.
