Reds Need Extra Innings to Top Phillies, 7-3
|
The game between Cincinnati and Philadelphia is in the books, despite a little rain.
Due in part to first baseman Adam Powers, the Cincinnati Reds chopped down the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-3, in 13 innings. Powers slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The Reds go to 72-59, putting them third in the National League Central Division.
Powers had a game-changing home run in the top of the 13th. On a 0-2 fastball from David Piedrahita, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Reds a 7-3 lead. It was the 30th home run of the year for Powers.
In postgame comments, Powers said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
