Nationals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Dodgers
|
The Washington Nationals had to overcome a big game from Los Angeles right fielder Greg Thompson to leave Dodger Park with a victory. And they did, winning 10-8. Thompson went 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Gene Bowman recorded his 2nd save for Washington. The loss makes Los Angeles 64-53.
Washington relied on the bat of Mario Garcia to get the win. The second baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Nationals ahead, 10-8. For the game, Garcia had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Garcia said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
