|
The Boston Red Sox got a superb performance from catcher Sergio Mejia. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Yankees won the game, 5-4. Mejia belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jon Barton got the save, his 27th in 30 chances. With the win, the Yankees improved to 49-69.
New York took a 5-4 lead on Cedric Tracy's 13th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Tracy hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Boston pitcher Jeff Daoust shaking his head.
"The chili dogs will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Tracy.
