Brewers Beat Visiting Royals, 8-6
|
Despite a great performance by Kansas City first baseman Francisco Ferrer, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Royals by the score of 8-6 at Miller Park. Ferrer was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Andrew Gibbs picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Nick Colley suffered the loss. Earning his 25th save of the year was Jim Rainey.
Milwaukee took the lead, 8-6, on Greg Whitaker's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Kansas City pitcher Jose Arias in the bottom of the seventh.
"We got the victory," said Whitaker. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
At 42-77, the Brewers are currently last in the National League Central Division.
