Houston first baseman Willie Valiente had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Valiente was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs, even as Texas beat the Astros, 8-4. Bill Robinson, who is tied for 5th in the AL in complete games with 1, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. The defeat makes Houston 60-60.

Justin Kerby had a big 2-run home run for the Rangers in the top of the fifth inning. With Texas leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Kihachi Okuhara, who is a four-time Matt Gilman Pitcher of the Year Award winner, and punished it. The result was his 24th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 5-1.

Texas manager Stephen Gesualdi was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
