Royals Earn 8-7 Win Versus Cubs
The Kansas City Royals did just enough to secure a victory over the Chicago Cubs, 8-7, at Wrigley Field. Nobody did more than first baseman Kevin Stark. Jim Garvelink snagged the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, the left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits. He's now 6-4 on the season. Kansas City now owns a record of 55-65.

Had Maurice Groen not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Groen hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Royals.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Stark said after the game.
