Angels Beat Athletics, 6-3
|
With left fielder Tom Aitken leading the charge, the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Oakland Athletics, 6-3, at O.co Coliseum. Aitken was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Andy Parke, the winner, improved to 4-14. He held the Athletics to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Randy Lamb closed the door for Los Angeles, picking up his 20th save of the year.
Los Angeles used a well-timed hit by Juan Cruz to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Angels ahead, 5-3. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Angels manager Matt Moore. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
With the win, Los Angeles has a record of 31-88. Oakland falls to 45-75.
