In a low-scoring clash between Cleveland and Detroit, pitcher Rob Lewey was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned praise for his performance in the 2-1 Guardians win. Cleveland pitcher Raul Novoa got the win, upping his record to 7-2. Willie Ortiz got the loss. Pablo Iglesias picked up his 27th save of the season.

Cleveland took a 2-1 lead on J.J. Kirby's 4th triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Kirby hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Detroit pitcher Willie Ortiz visibly frustrated.

"Rob made his pitches," said Cleveland manager Danny Jaime.

The Guardians, at 61-60, sit in third place in the American League Central Division.
