Losing Trend Continues for Arizona
|
Seattle pitcher Rick Hutson did his part in helping his team beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner was Hutson. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Brad Hartley. Seattle, now 50-70, holds down last place in the American League West Division.
Seattle used the hitting of John Healey to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariners on top, 9-1. For the game, Healey had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
Said losing manager Terrell Bailey: "These are the grinding hard days that all good teams go through, and this is when we've got to stick together and believe in one another."
