The Boston Red Sox knocked off the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-3, in American League action at Fenway Park. Boston pitcher and San Diego, California, native Dave Izquierdo had an outstanding performance. The last-place Red Sox lifted their record to 46-76.
Roger Kittinger, who is tied for 9th in the AL in triples with 6, helped out the Boston cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Rodney Smith.
