Reds Take Down Astros, 5-4
|
In a close game at Minute Maid Park, the Cincinnati Reds edged the Houston Astros, 5-4, in 10 innings. Cincinnati third baseman Gerardo Machado stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Cincinnati reliever Tim Snipes picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. Chris Sanchez took the loss. The Reds raised their record to 77-44.
Machado had a game-changing triple in the top of the tenth. On a full count fastball from Chris Sanchez, he banged a run-scoring triple to center, giving the Reds a 5-4 lead. It was the 4th triple of the year for Machado.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Cincinnati field general BJ Gorman.
