The Houston Astros downed the Seattle Mariners, 4-1, the largest share of the credit belonging to second baseman Ruben Salas. On the day, Salas went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Astros. Houston goes to 76-46, Seattle to 39-82.
With Houston leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Salas batted against Seattle pitcher Wally Sharp. Salas hit a fastball to center for a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season put the Astros on top, 4-0.
