Despite a great performance by Chicago third baseman Adam McCloskey, the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Cubs by the score of 6-4 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. McCloskey went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. John Stark wrapped it up, recording his 5th save. The loss makes Chicago 64-58.

The Cubs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Angels going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old shortstop Gary Reeves came to the plate. Reeves hit a 3-run home run on a 2-0 fastball from Chicago hurler Ben Dolan. It was Reeves's 9th home run of the year.

"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Keith Orchard.
