The Philadelphia Phillies bested the Minnesota Twins, 5-3, at Citizens Bank Park. Pete Ray was one of the standouts. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The winner in relief was Adrian Giraldo. He is now 4-0. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 6.2 innings. Vince Booker, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.

Ray contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Philadelphia in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Ray took a fastball from Danny Ahlers and stroked the home run to right. His 27th home run of the season allowed the Phillies to leap in front, 3-1.

"I felt good up there," said Ray. "I saw the ball well."

The Phillies sit in first place in the National League East Division with a record of 65-57.
