Nationals Suffer 7-4 Home Defeat
The Detroit Tigers had to overcome a big game from Washington third baseman Chris Montague to leave Nationals Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-4. Montague went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Detroit reliever Kenneth Jones picked up the win. Mike Rios, who is tied for 7th in the NL in complete games with 1, took the loss for Washington. The third-place Tigers are now 57-64, the Nationals 58-65.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Kyle Neal? The Detroit catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tigers on top, 4-3. For the game, Neal had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"They beat us fair and square," Washington skipper Doug Graff said.
