Blue Jays Procure 5-3 Victory
|
The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Fenway Park, dropping the Boston Red Sox, 5-3. Brian Raymer, who is tied for 9th in the AL with a 3.51 ERA, was the difference-maker. In 8 innings, Raymer surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. John Ferch recorded the save for Toronto, his 7th of the season.
Toronto used a well-timed hit by Dave Steinhart to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I'd like to pile on a few more wins before the end of the year," said Raymer.
With the win, the Blue Jays have a record of 68-53.
