Rangers Get Past New York for 6-5 Win
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.

The Texas Rangers overcame a fine performance by New York right fielder Bill Hayden to defeat the Yankees, 6-5, at Yankee Stadium. Hayden was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Texas occupies second place in the American League West Division at 66-58.

Texas used a clutch hit from Simeone DeVito to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," DeVito said.
