Blue Jays 10-3 Winners Versus Cleveland
|
Toronto took on Cleveland in front of a lively crowd.
Toronto picked up a win at Rogers Centre, bumping off the Cleveland Guardians, 10-3. Pitcher Billy Demeter was a major reason the Blue Jays emerged victorious. In 7 innings, Demeter surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs.
Tied up with the Guardians in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Blue Jays got a boost from pinch hitter Jonathan Thompson. With the bases loaded, Thompson saw a 0-2 cutter from Manny Rodriguez and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Toronto on top, 1-0.
"Billy was Billy," said Blue Jays manager Dan Silva. "He gave it all he's got."
The first-place Blue Jays have a record of 71-52.
