Cincinnati Bats Go Silent in 6-0 Loss
|
The 6-0 Houston win over Cincinnati was due largely to Frank Kelsay. The Astros third baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Matt Emery got the win, improving to 11-6. He worked 5 innings, giving up no runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Josh Jones was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
With Houston leading 3-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Kelsay hit a fastball from Israel Castillo for a 3-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Astros ahead, 6-0.
Kelsay called the win "a collective effort."
With the win, the Astros have a record of 62-61.
