Big Day for Cruz in 11-5 Phillies Win
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Dave Cruz, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Minnesota Twins, 11-5. Cruz was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Phillies. David Trahan recorded his 6th save for Philadelphia. The Phillies now own a record of 61-61.

The Twins had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Phillies going into the bottom of the seventh inning. That changed quickly when the five-time All-Star Zack Baize came to the plate. Baize hit a run-scoring triple on a 0-1 fastball from Minnesota hurler Carlos Mella. It was Baize's 5th triple of the year.
