Tigers Drop Nationals, 9-3
|
Detroit catcher Alex Pagan contributed significantly to his team's 9-3 win over the Washington Nationals. Pagan went 2 for 5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Tigers. The winner in relief was Kenneth Jones. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 12-5. The third-place Tigers go to 58-64.
Alex de los Santos provided a timely hit. The Detroit center fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," de los Santos told the Detroit Herald.
