Yankees Defeated, 5-2
|
The Texas Rangers knocked off the New York Yankees, 5-2, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. Texas pitcher and Cincinnati, Ohio, native Nick Palmer had an outstanding performance. Palmer yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 8-9. Picking up his 34th save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Frederick.
It could have been a different outcome for Texas, had it not been for Barrett Youngs, the 29-year old shortstop . Youngs contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Texas up, 3-2.
Palmer attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
The Rangers now have a record of 70-55 with the win over New York.
