The New York Mets rode a solid performance from 32-year-old starting pitcher Matt Lemke to a win, beating the Washington Nationals, 6-2, at Citi Field. Their 59-63 record puts the Mets second in the National League East Division.

Third Baseman Kevin King made an impact for New York, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Jesus Duran in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, King went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Matt was able to execute his pitches," said New York manager Matt Moore. "Simple as that."
