Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Rays beat the Blue Jays.

The Tampa Bay Rays spoiled a good performance by Toronto second baseman Joe Reese, bumping off Toronto, 5-4, at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. Reese was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Erik Lepore picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Alex Bartolo, who is tied for 10th in the AL in innings pitched with 150.1, took the loss. Merlin Penney earned the save, his 18th, for the Rays.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when left fielder Ryan Kaplan hit a triple. The Rays went on to win.

"There's a lot in this game you can't control. Just take what the game gives you. I was just doing my best to help the team win," Kaplan told the Tampa Bay Daily News.

The Rays now own a record of 55-70.
