Rockies Earn 4-3 Win Versus Cubs
|
The Colorado Rockies topped the Chicago Cubs by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Tony Thomas. Thomas was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk for the Rockies. Ricky Aguilera earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Matt Osorio earned the save, his 3rd, for the Rockies.
Had Brenden Oxton not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Oxton hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rockies.
After the game, Colorado manager Trevor Taka applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The third-place Rockies go to 69-55.
