Braves Edge Phillies, 3-2
|
The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Coca-Cola Field, knocking off the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2. Starting pitcher Andy Bourdeau was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Bourdeau surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The save went to Nick Laramie, his 1st this season.
Jonathan Walker, who is a two-time All-Star, contributed to the Atlanta win with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the shortstop had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"When Andy executes, it really doesn't matter what the other lineup is," said Atlanta field general Dan Hoagland.
The Braves, at 69-57, sit in second place in the National League East Division.
