Pirates Win, 5-2, at Boston
|
The Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Boston Red Sox, 5-2, in National League action at Fenway Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Pittsburgh pitcher Russ Einhorn. Einhorn, now 5-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jo Sealy sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Randy Wilson, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Wilson contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Pittsburgh up, 4-0.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Wilson. "It eases the tension."
The third-place Pirates improved to 65-61.
