Cubs Walk It Off for 78th Win of Season
|
The Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies played into extra innings before the winner was determined. The Cubs won it, 8-5, in 12 innings. In the game, Chicago designated hitter Jake Sanders was 3-6 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jonathan Hager got credit for the win, improving to 9-6. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Cubs now have a record of 78-49 with the win over Colorado.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With no one out, Sanders hit a knuckle curve from Danny Youngblood for a 3-run home run. The Cubs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Sanders.
