Cleveland Sent Home with 9-1 Loss
|
Kansas City starter Theron Koulpasis ran into little resistance from Cleveland hitters, as his team cruised to victory, 9-1. Koulpasis, now 10-4, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Kansas City.
Randy Wilson had a big bases-clearing double for the Royals in the bottom of the first inning. With Kansas City leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Manny Rodriguez, who is tied for 7th in the AL with a 8.8 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 4-0.
"We were firing on all cylinders," said Royals manager Connor Gould.
