Close Win Moves Athletics to 49-79
|
Danny Sanchez could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Cleveland Guardians lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Oakland Athletics at Progressive Field. The Athletics saw their record improve to 49-79.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ben Celeste? The Oakland center fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Athletics on top, 3-0. For the game, Celeste had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I liked the focus, I liked the effort," said Athletics manager Jon Pearson.
