Phillies Lose By a Run at New York
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher Justin Sieler, the Philadelphia Phillies lost to the New York Mets, 4-3. Sieler was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2. New York reliever Bert Reed was the winner. His record is now 5-5. The losing pitcher was Blake Anderson. Chris Horan notched his 22nd save in 29 chances.
New York took a 4-3 lead on Zack Baize's 6th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Baize hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Philadelphia pitcher Blake Anderson visibly frustrated.
Baize said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
New York is last in the National League East Division with a record of 50-78.
