Tigers Earn 6-2 Win Versus Los Angeles
|
The Detroit Tigers downed the Los Angeles Angels, 6-2, at Comerica Park. Tim Gillette led the way, going 2-for-4 for Detroit. Detroit reliever Brian Bieber was the winner. His record is now 6-7. Fred Szilagyi took the loss. Detroit is 62-66 and Los Angeles, with the loss, 57-72.
Jesse Grow had a big 2-run triple for the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Detroit leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Matt Barnes and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 8th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 5-2.
Detroit manager Chris Gasparro said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
