Reds Post 6-4 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds dealt the Philadelphia Phillies a 6-4 loss at Great American Ball Park. Michael Draper was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Cincinnati pitcher Kyle Gruhlke got the win, upping his record to 9-4. Rick Whitley got the loss. Corey Comer recorded the save, his 38th.
Javy Castaneda had a big 2-run triple for the Reds in the bottom of the third inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from Rick Whitley, who finished 2nd in the AL in saves with 35 in 2106, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 4-1.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Castaneda said in postgame remarks.
The win gives Cincinnati a season record of 79-49.
