Giants Rebuff Braves, 3-1
|
San Francisco starter Ben Bower put the Atlanta offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his cutter in leading the Giants to a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Bower, now 12-9. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. At 59-70, the Giants are currently 4th in the National League West Division.
Ivan Escalante took Atlanta hurler Juan Gerardino deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Giants on top, 2-0. In all, Escalante had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Ben is a gamer," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
