Phillies Sunk by Mets
|
New York pitcher Jayson Andrews did his part in helping his team beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner was Andrews. He threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Mike Middleton. Chris Horan closed it out for New York, earning his 23rd save.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Mets pinch hitter John Stinson hit a curveball from Mike Middleton for a 2-run single. Just like that, New York was up, 3-2.
"Jayson was hitting his spots and everything had life," said New York manager Matt Moore.
The Mets sit in last place in the National League East Division with a record of 51-78.
